Things are about to get real . . .

Hola family and friends!

5 MORE DAYS and I'm out of the CCM! Things are about to get real REAL quick!

Time is weird on a mission.  Days seem like weeks and weeks seem like days. It flies and is slow all at once.

Last week my companion and I got called to me the Hermana trainers over our zone!  Basically we just welcome the new missionaries in our zone, check rooms to make sure they're clean, and help prepare for sacrament on Sunday! Very simple.

This past week has been amazing! So much growth IN ONE WEEK! We taught one of our investigators the other morning (not a real investigator), but after our lesson she came up to us and told us that she really wants to bring in her cousin (the person she role-plays to be when we teach her) because she really thinks that we, out of all the missionaries that have taught her, could be the ones to help her! It made our day!! It was ALL the spirit though! The Lord's hand was truly in our lessons this week!!

Also, one of our teacher's had her mom come in. All of the sudden my teacher says, "Oh, by the way, your'e ALL teaching my mom tonight," So we literally had 5 minutes to prepare a 20 minute lesson for her! We freaked out! BUT then we said a prayer and literally EVERYTHING worked out for us after that!!

PRAYER IS REAL!!  After all of her lessons she came up to us and said ours was her favorite lesson.
#HERMANAPOWER
#THEPOWEROFTHESPIRIT

We´ve just had a great week. One of my favorite quotes from this week was: "The Lord wants you to do your best because He knows your full potential! When you're doing what the Lord wants He WILL help you!"

OH how I can truly testify of these things. THE POWER OF PRAYER IS REAL!!!!

This week in choir we sang a childs prayer. Every hymn is so beautiful in Spanish (as my aunt would say, the celestial kingdom language..jajaja) Anyhoo, my eyes watered up because I love that song!

It's so real!!! HE loves you and WANTS to hear from you!!

I LOVE YOU ALL.
I PRAY FOR YOU ALL
I SUPPORT YOU ALL.

Have a good week

HAZ LO JUSTO :)

P.S. This . . . IS ELDER TRENT . . .

He is in my zone.  Basically he is Dwight Shrute from The Office. (Yes I finally have friends who enjoy the office as much as I do) JAJAJAJAJA!! He is hilarious!!

Don't worry, those aren't all his:

We, as a district, put all our bones on his plate to make it look like he ate them all!

TURN OUT

Hey ya'll! HAPPY MEXICO INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I hope you are all good! Everyday I think and pray for you all!

This week . . . it's been amazing. Everything that I have learned this week has all been CHRIST!

As many of you might know, I'm a crybaby, and especially when it comes to Christ.

On Sunday we got to watch the re-dedication of the Mexico Temple! What an awesome experience that was! Later that evening we had a devotional (video of Elder Bednar) and I was simply blown away! This devotional was the best.

There was a time in my life when i attempted to be a dancer.  As a dancer I would often hear the words "turn out!" being yelled in class. Turning out wasn't something that came easy or naturally. You had to remind yourself constantly until it became something automatic. Now you might be saying Hermana Rogers why are you talking about dancing and turning out?

In this devotional the phrase that stuck out to me most was to TURN OUT. As imperfect people we naturally turn into ourselves, rather than out to help others. Especially when we are going through a hard time. I can even admit, I turn in a lot when I'm sad or hurt and I feel as if my life is just the pits.

We learned that Christ is our biggest example of TURNING OUT even in his hardest moments. After he had just bled from every pore in the garden suffering for all our sins and afflictions, after he was betrayed by his best friends, he STILL TURNED OUT! He still healed the ear of someone who came to capture him and take him away. IT AMAZES ME! i want to be like that. I want to always be kind and think of others even in my loneliest gloomy moments. There are so many examples of Christ's love and TURNING OUT in the scriptures!

Forget yourself and serve others.

After that wonderful devotional we watched an older movie about Christ. It broke me. I was in tears through the whole thing. How could someone so perfect go through such pain?  For me? For us? Holy cow. He is truly our savior. He loves us SO MUCH!! I love the scripture in 1 NEPHI 19:9.  He went through everything for you and me. He is the way and the only way!! HE IS AMAZING. I LOVE OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. what a perfect being. My heart is so full of love this week and its all because its been extra focused on the Savior! I am so BLESSED to know that we have a Savior who did everything for us. We are nothing without him. I hope you all know that too! I am converted in Christ. He is my strength.

Just remember, when you seem to being having the toughest time and you ask WHY ME, WHY IS THIS SO HARD? Is there any other way? Just remember, the savior has suffered all of it for you. He wants to help lead and guide you through those times that are so necessary for your development. It has never been easy, not even for the Savior who was perfect. When we have faith and trust in our Savior Jesus Christ and follow him there will ALWAYS BE blessings and miracles to follow. I can testify of that!! I have so many things to say and so little time! I just hope you all truly TRULY know how much you are loved.

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Thanks to all those who have sent me letters and packages! you dont' even know who much that makes my day!

CHOW

PRESS FORWARD

Hola!

How are you guys?¿ I hope you're all good!! I love hearing from you all! It sure does make me happy!!
Not much time this morning . . .

This past week my companion and I officially started giving lessons without having it all written down in Spanish for us! We are improving!! YAY! Also Hermana Wilde and I joined the choir, and this week we sang the EFY melody. It was so beautiful!

Unfortunately I got super frustrated with myself and the language this week. I got home one night and wrote in my journal: WHY COULDN'T I JUST SPEAK ESPAÑOL? I was so upset. The night before I had written " WHAT DO I DO?" After all the anger and frustration I got on my knees and prayed. After my prayer I opened up my scriptures and I received a very simple obvious answer. It made me smile. In my scriptures I had, previously highlighted all the words PRESS FORWARD in yellow. When I opened my scriptures all I saw were those two words!

PRESS FORWARD. I loved it!!

There is so much to learn here at the CCM. I am learning more about myself everyday! My district is the best, and all the Elders make me laugh everyday. They are so weird!

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me treats and letters!

Someone I went to school with is here. Her name is Hermana Black and she has been such a good friend to me in the MTC.

It is so pretty here.

Love,

Hermana Rogers

Come to the edge . . .

Hola!

THIS WEEK HAS BEEN AMAZING! Can you believe I am starting my third week here?? I can't either! Yesterday we went and did a service project by helping fold laundry! It was super fun because the Mexican workers had their radio's pumpin' and they were just jamming. We didn't know whether to feel like we were sinning or just to jam with them.  LOL  #themissionarylife.

GUESS WHAT?¿ prepare to get a little jealous . . . ELDER CHRISTOFERSON CAME TO MEXICO to talk to us! IT WAS THE BEST!! Before he came in we all stood up to greet him and the spirit was so sos osososososos strong i about died! chills ran all throughout my body and, oh my, all you could feel was peace and absolute happiness!! He is just amazing!

ALSO GUESS WHAT?!!!!! I SPOKE IN CHURCH...AGAIN!!! HA HA My third time in a month. I either did something bad or Heavenly father just loves to hear me talk in church! LOL it was on tithing, and I have a really strong testimony of that so I knew I was going to talk when they announced the topic! WE HAVE TO SPEAK SPANISH in our talks ! It's crazy but I love it! Some words just come to me in Spanish now!! Like they pop in my head in Spanish rather than in English! ITS SWEET!!

But even thought I'm progressing, this week has been a little bit of a struggle for us with the language. We learn Spanish everyday . . . well, actually we have to learn it on our own and then the teachers just kind of correct us! It's really cool because basically its all up to us to learn what to do!!  We have to do solo espanol and if we don't . . . SQUATS for the girls and PUSH UPS for the guys. One of the devotionals this week was awesome because they gave another story/poem that I absolutely adore:

Come to the edge . . . NO, I'LL FALL
Come to the edge . . . NO, I'LL FALL
Come to the edge
So i went to the edge, and then he pushed me!!!
AND I FLEW!"

We´ve all pushed ourselves so much and prayed for help! In fact, this week my companion and I fasted for the gift of tongues and OH MAN HAS IT HELPED!!THE GIFT OF TONGUES IS SO REAL! wowwwww! I just love it! Guys, The MTC IS AWESOME AND I CAN'T WAIT TO ACTUALLY SHARE THE GOSPEL TO REAL INVESTIGATORS! There are some guys mapping out the MTC and they are interested in the Book of Mormon, so we might just be placing one here soon!

I was just thinking last night how much our district has grown together! We all get to talk in these deep conversations about life and especially the gospel! I love it!! My companion is awesome! She can  be really sassy and use mean words (that feel mean to me), but the awesome thing is we have this thing called companion inventory where we can fix our problems super quick and we do it with love! So now she has only been nice to me! She uses to call me a brat so i asked her if she could use nicer mean words!!! LOL Like saying my silly words I make up so instead of brat if she could call me "silbot" ha ha ha Don't ask. But we work things out really quick so we can always have the spirit with us!! Its awesome! Its something super good to learn here! and it will definitely help in the future because I've never been too good at communicating my feelings, but now it just comes!! SO COOL!!

A cannon just shot off the mountain here in Mexico . . . nothing new. We like to think of it as a sound from the Hunger Games because we are all in different districts surrounded by big walls which keep us from being able to get out. ha ha

What the cannon sound really means is that there is a party! HA HA  Isn't that silly¿?

Another fun fact: People, sneaky, sneaky people, have been seeing my journal and how I doodle in it.. HA HA So they have all been coming to me to write their name on their notebooks or make cards for their moms!! HA HA A couple of the elders said "you have just become the most popular hermana! HA HA I had to eventually tell people I couldn't write names and stuff anymore because its just too much.

ANYWAY this week has been the best! This is real. I really hope you guys know how much our Heavenly Father and Savior love you!! ITS AMAZING HOW MUCH THEY DO!!! I AM STILL IN AWE. They are so aware of us and truly do listen to our prayers!!

I invite you all to keep reading the Book of Mormon. Even if you have no time for it, make time for it! BECAUSE WE ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE THIS BOOK!! Sometimes we take it for granted and I just think of Joseph smith and everything he went through just to make this book possible!!

(It's so weird to share my testimony in English because I've only been sharing it in espanol! )

I LOVE YOU ALL!

THE SPIRIT SPEAKS IN ALL LANGUAGES!

HOLA!

I have arrived!

Here at the CCM it is absolutely beautiful, and I was welcomed with rain! MY favorite!

My heart is full! I can't even explain how strong the spirit is here! My favorite part of the day is in the morning and night when you see ALL the missionaries walking to their classes or back home!
Last week we had our first investigator and we had to preach in ESPANOL!!My companion and I sort of freaked out, but we knew everything would work out. We wrote everything down on a piece of paper so that we knew what we were saying and once we started teaching the lesson she asked questions and everything we wrote down was basically useless. ha ha

BUT we understood about 90 percent of what she was saying and the spirit prompted me so strong to say all these things, and I kept holding back because I couldn't say it in Spanish, but eventually I HAD TO LET IT OUT! I shared as much as I could in Spanish and spoke the rest in English and even though she didn't understand one word I said the spirit was SO strong (like legit unreal) and we were all in tears!

THE SPIRIT SPEAKS IN ALL LANGUAGES! IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE!!!

She later wrote to our teacher that we were amazing missionaries! My companion and I jumped for joy! FYI this investigator is fake . . . but she didn't know any English. ha ha

My companion is VERY DIFFERENT from me. Still love her though! She tends to be very sassy to the Elders, she isn't girly and doesn't like pictures. OR HUGS! WHO DOESNT LIKE HUGS?!?!?! ha ha Hugs must be a Rogers thing. Although we are different, I know that the Lord placed us together for a reason because we are great companions and build each other up so much!

I have learned so much here and its only been a week!! We study ALL DAY!! It's very different.
The spirit is so strong here and we are all striving to meet the same goals and become the best missionaries we can!

One of my favorite scriptures is 1 nephi 17:50-51

And I said unto them: If God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water, be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done.

51 And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should build a ship?

I love this because it is difficult learning the Spanish here. You get frustrated with yourself A LOT. But a guy in my district shared this message with me: "I have been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Lord has such great power and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot bless us with the gift of tongues?" - Elder Trent

YOU GUYS!! THE BOOK OF MORMON IS SO TRUE! READ IT! LOVE IT AND DON'T TAKE IT FOR GRANTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am out of time and I wish I could say so much more!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!

sunday talk

As a little girl one of my biggest goals was to memorize the articles of faith! In primary if you were brave, you could go to the front of the class and recite them, it was the cool thing to do. Still wishing I had every single one memorized I am going to read you the fourth article of faith.

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; Second, repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fouth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Now im going to ask you a question and I want you to think about it for a second
WHAT IS FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST?

In the book of Mormon alma teaches us that faith is when we hope for things which are not seen, which are true. When we have faith in Jesus Christ we believe in him as the Son of God, the Only Begotten of the Father in the Flesh. We accept him as our Savior and Redeemer and FOLLOW his teachings. Faith in him means that we trust Him in ALL things. That he knows us, that He loves us and that our sins can be forgiven through His atonement.

My sister and I actually went to the temple this week for her first time! I thought it was so cool because as we were waiting in the chapel before we went to the font I opened up my scriptures to Ether 12! SCRIPTURES ARE JUST AWESOME!! It was a perfect chapter for this talk! So iin Ether it says again faith is things which are hoped for which are not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith! ACT !! Faith and action come hand in hand!

When I was living down in St. George for school I was living in the dorms. Me being on a budget the dorms were what seemed (extra emphasis on seemed) to be the cheapest until you later find out that living in the dorms requires a meal plan.  NOW LET ME TELL YOU MEAL PlANS were not cheap!! But I went through with it anyway thinking getting a job would be a piece of cake. Well, it wasn’t .many stores needed morning workers but me going to school in the morning didn’t really work out. I lasted a small while until the numbers in my bank account grew small. I was terrified! I had never been in a situation like it before. I guess that’s a part of growing up right? I did ALL I could to get as much as I needed and I was still short a couple hundred dollars. The day before the payment was due I still hadn’t earned enough money to pay off my Meal plan. I cried and cried unsure of where to turn to next. With a shaken heart I got on my knees and said a prayer. In that moment I KNEW I would have enough. I didn’t know how but I knew the lord heard my prayers and that everything was going to be ok. The day the payment was due my stomach dropped to see my bank account at the same small number. I prayed again and got the same message : EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT, TRUST ME! I went on throughout my day and at about an hour to the payment time I had the exact amount, EXACT AMOUNT I needed to pay off my Meal Plan.

By faith all things are fulfilled.

Now I know that even when we follow Jesus Christ and have faith in him we mess up. We are not perfect and that is ok. BUT, the awesome thing about living as imperfect humans is that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father through and ONLY through the mercy and atonement of Jesus Christ and we only receive Christs mercy through repentance!
                                                                                                                          ‘

Repentance , Repentance! It is everywhere in the scriptures so it must be important so What is repentance? In the bible dictionary (another one of the worlds coolest things) it says the greek word of which this is the translation denotes a change of mind. Repentance comes to mean a turning of the heart and will to God. Without this there can be no progress in the things of the souls salvation. Repentance is not optional for salvation; it is a commandment of God. Repentance includes turning away from sin and turning to God for forgiveness.

Going back to faith for a second, In Preach my Gospel it says that Our faith in Christ and our love for Him LEAD us to repent, or to change our thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that are not in harmony with His will. We change because we love him.

I know that to be so true!! Once we come to know Christ, we WANT to change. We WANT to become the person he wants us to be. It’s so simple to say but the simplicity of it is SO TRUE! I can testify of it.

The Savior suffered not only for our sins and imprefections, but He also took upon himself our sorrows. Through his infinite atonement he will heal you and give you peace. RUN TO HIM!

Elder Christofferson said “ Repentance is a divine gift , and there should be a smile on our face when we speak of it. It points us to freedom, confidence and peace!” WHO DOESN’T want that?

PS don’t EVER let satans cunning voice get to you and tell you that you blew it and that you can not change.  You CAN DO IT!

As you can see that faith and repentance play an important part to our happiness so does baptism and receiving the holy ghost. Faith in Jesus Christ and Repentance prepare us for the ordinances of baptism and confirmation. Baptism is an essential ordinance of salvation. No person can enter the kingdom of God without being baptized by immersion for the remission or forgiveness of our sins.
Jesus not only taught us that we must be baptized of water but of the spirit as well. Without it, the baptism is incomplete. In preach my gospel it says those who receive the gift of the holy ghost and remain worthy can enjoy His companionship throughout their lives.

I am now going to share with you a story from one of my favorite missionaries.

We started to teach the restoration to him, he was not understanding anything. A frustrating 45 minutes passed by and we had not accomplished anything. I realized that he isnt learning because we didnt have the spirit with us. I then thought "How can we bring the spirit" An answer immediatly came to my head "Talk about his relationship with Jesus Christ" So I asked him, hermano para usted, quien es JesuCristo, Who is jesus christ. Immediatley the spirit entered the room as this man fought back tears explaining his life and relation with the savior. I then asked him Who he thought sent us there that day. He replied.. The mission? "Hermano quien cree que nos mando aqui?" I asked again.... He paused... Whoever is in charge? WHO HERMANO? He began to shake and replied I know you are sent by Jesus Christ. I know it because I can feel it right now. I Began to explain how much God loved him and how we really are sent by him. We are representatives of him and as representatives we are here to tell you that he wants you to follow him. Through faith repentance and baptism. After a literal 5 or 6 minutes of silence and physical shaking of this old man he says " I thought he forgot about me" I felt a huge lump in my throat and my eyes got blury when he said this. Elder Mckinney testified of the Lost sheep story and explained how he will never forget us.

“we might not know what they are going through, but the Lord does and that is why the spirit is so important”

When Christ was on the earth,
 He promised he would send
The Holy Ghost to comfort us,
 Our true, eternal friend.
The Holy Spirit whispers
 with a still small voice.
He testifies of God and Christ
and makes our hearts rejoice. And when we are confirmed
 by sacred priesthood pow'r,
The Holy Ghost is giv'n to us
 To guide us ev'ry hour.
 Oh, may I always listen
 to that still small voice.
And with his light I'll do what's right
each time I make a choice.
I know that these principles and ordinances lead us to eternal bliss!! They bring true joy!! I know that we have a Father in heaven who LOVES US! He knows us and is so aware of what goes on in our life, even to the smallest details of our lives. I know he hears me, even when I feel he is distant. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that he truly does know us ever so perfectly! Because he lives death has no sting, because he lives my imperfect soul can be made clean and perfected. His love for us is unconditional and everlasting. WE ARE SO LOVED. I can testify that the Holy Ghost manifests the truth to us. We just have to listen and have an open heart. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
rainy days give me inspiration and emotional healing.
I could go on and on about how much i cherish the rain but today, I won't.

As the count continues I am at 16 days before I leave for my mission.
Everyday that passes it hits me more and more.
The day I started my mission papers I have come to see how real satan is.
How hard he has and is still trying to tear me down everyday, every hour and every minute.
I've also come to realize how much more powerful God is.

The other night the amount of days I had left weighed heavy on my shoulders.
My grandmas husband decided to start drinking again and when I had gotten home that night the vibes were not the best. My grandma was upset and frustrated and her husband was (VERY) scary.
I was sitting on my bed filled with many different emotions about ready to burst into a million tears. - for those who don't know, I'm a crybaby. Recently my aunt gave me an LDS quote book, a quote for each day of each month. Before sad tears could make their way out of my eyes i looked down not really realizing I was holding that book in my hands and happened to have it on the date of August 19 (the day I report to the MTC) The header read : BE A LIGHT

the quote below read: I the Lord have called thee in righteousness and will hold thine hand and will keep thee and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from prison and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

HOW PERFECT?!?! sad tears turned into happy tears and I felt so comforted. All things that were weighing heavy on me were gone. but once again, HOW PERECT?!

The night I officially decided to serve a mission I was sitting in the empty parking lot at the provo temple searching my scriptures and stumbled across a scripture that talked about being a light and bringing people out of darkness. I loved how they went hand in hand with each other.
I love that the Lord watches out for us, he knows us and our situations so perfectly. He knows what we need and WHEN we need it.

YOU GUYS!! the BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE!! and the primary weren't kidding when they said sing scripture power. There is amazing power that comes from the book! It brings happiness to your week, it brings light and love in the home .. IT DOES SO MANY AMAZING THINGS!! why is it so cool?! don't believe me?! READ IT!

xx. so much love.

also, If you need good music for this rainy day just type in bon iver on soundcloud and listen to all the music that plays after. :)

dont cry, hold your head up high

pictures of the week.

Sis & I
This girl and I have our ups and downs hence the word "sis"
BUT I LOVE HER TO PIECES.

My "treats" for the week to my two "first loves" My Papa and my Elder.
I attempt to be cute and create something crafty.

Ok, Hello. It's been a while since I've really had the patience to sit myself down and get into my "zone."  When I sat down to write this afternoon I opened up Blogger and ..hmm, well I surely wasn't in the mood to write. Instead, the thought of reading older posts sounded more appealing to me. Not to sound prideful or anything but (beaver) dam, those were some good posts! HAHAH. If you haven't noticed i'm one who laughs at my own jokes. I'm hilarious lets face it.

IT IS ALMOST JULY and I am boggled. WHERE HAS TIME GONE? It's a love hate thing. Love, because the timeline for Keian coming home grows smaller and smaller. Hate, because WHERE IS MY MISSION CALL AND WHY IS IT NOT IN MY HANDS? Heavenly Father likes to teach me patience. Silly actually. In his eyes I'm probably like a little child who can't seem to grasp a concept no matter how many times it is taught. Patience? What is patience?

Onto happier things that make you want to skip and sing happy primary songs. Elder Keian Maliga has been out a total of 3 months and my heart skips an extra beat every time i think of him!! Holy gold fish extra cheddar cheesy I KNOW! but I AM IN LOVEEE. ow ow. get over it. HE IS DOING SO GOOD and blessing so many families and individuals.

All in all this week includes, TRUSTING THE LORDS TIMING. (like seriously can be one of the hardest things) but everything works out when you trust him and his plan he has in store for you. LISTEN TO THE PROMPTINGS OF THE SPIRIT. sometimes(all the time lets be real) you end up in deep doo doo if you don't. HAVE FUN!!!AND HELLA SMILE! let your light shine!!!
